Founder's Note
Meet Our Founder, Lilly Shen
Before founding Onepearlife™, my design world was rooted in couture pattern-making and evening wear tailoring. Years of working backstage with luxury silhouettes taught me an exacting discipline: true elegance is entirely dictated by weight, balance, and how light touches a woman’s collarbone.
Yet at every fitting, I noticed an unsettling disconnect. Exquisitely draped gowns were often paired with either faux plastic beads that dulled in weeks, or traditional heritage pearls marked up tenfold that felt stiff and unapproachable. I wondered why genuine, mirror-luster pearls set in solid gold had to be gatekept behind glass vaults and five-figure price tags.
Three years ago, I launched Onepearlife™ to bridge that gap. Headquartered in the US and anchoring our handcraft studio in Nanjing, I still personally sit at the workbench to inspect harvests, drape 18K gold prototypes against the skin, and wear-test every design before release. The jewelry industry often relies on vague marketing terms like "AAAAA" with no verifiable criteria. At Onepearlife™, our Nanjing studio benchmarks pearl selection strictly against the GIA Pearl Value Factors—prioritizing natural luster, nacre thickness, and clean surface qualities.
We never work with artificial shell cores or plastic beads. Every pearl is individually evaluated under balanced light before being set in solid 18K gold.
